State Blocking FAQs

  • Question: Why are you blocking entire states?
  • Answer: Over 20 states in have passed aggressive Age Verification laws that affect websites with adult content.

  • Question: What do these Age Verification laws require?
  • Answer: These laws require adult websites to verify the age of visitors before allowing them to view content.

  • Question: Why are you not just following the law by verifying ages?
  • Answer: We do not object to the concept of age verification. The problem is that these laws require visitors to electronically submit copies of their government-issued IDs to the sites. Even if visitors wanted to do that, the process of collecting, verifying, cataloging, and securely maintaining these IDs would take hours every single day of the year.

  • Question: Doesn requring visitors to upload a government-issued ID for every adult website they visit seem like an unreasonable request?
  • Answer: Yes. We believe the Conservative-controlled state legislatures are using these laws to get adult websites to completely close by making adhering to the new laws virtually impossible.

  • Question: Could protecting kids from adult websites be accomplished in a different way?
  • Answer: Yes. Since our sites opened in 2010, we have voluntarily labeled them with the “Restricted to Adults” tag. This tag works with browsers, operating systems, and third-party software to automatically block adult content. All parents need to do is turn-on these features using strong passwords. All state legislators needed to do was require adult sites to use these types of “Restricted to Adults” tags.

  • Question: Are there third-party providers that can handle Age-Verification for your websites?
  • Answer: Yes. There are some companies that will handle this task. Many huge adult producers are using these types of services. Unfortunately, the cost of these services is more than the total revenue made by our websites.

  • Question: Wouldn't submitting a government-issued ID to a website potentially allow for an increase in identity theft?
  • Answer: Yes. That is one of the reasons why we would never ask for this type of information from every visitor of our websites. We believe the Conservative-controlled legistlatures are counting on the fact that few visitors would ever upload their government-issued IDs to every adult website. As a result, adult sites will be forced to close.

  • Question: Since few people will ever upload a copy of their government-issued ID, do some people view this as an unconstitutional violation of Free Speeach?
  • Answer: Yes. We view this action as unconstitutional. Unforuntaely, the Conservative-controlled Supreme Court upheld the Texas Age-Verification law.

  • Question: Can you fight these laws in court?
  • Answer: As an independent website, we can not afford the legal fees invovled with a fight. Additionally, once precendent is set by the US Supreme Court, any additional court cases will be dismissed. Until the political make-up of the Supreme Court changes or the laws repealed by each state, the situation will not change.

  • Question: Does blocking the visitors of over 20 states affect your ability to reamin open?
  • Answer: Yes. Several small, independent websites similar to our sites have already closed. Once blocking is initiated, we will be carefully watching our revenue. If we are unable to earn enough, the sites will close.

  • Question: What can I do if I do not live in one of states but my Internet Service Provicer (ISP) still blocks me?
  • Answer: In the event you are blocked because your ISP is located in a blcoked state, your best option is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPS\'s allow you to specify your location when connecting to the internet.

  • Question: Can I use a Virtual Pricate Network (VPN) if I live in a blocked state?
  • Answer: Our blocking system is not able to determine if visitors are using a VPN. Therefore, we will not block anyone in an affected state that uses a VPN with a masked location. Be smart. Check the online Age-Verification laws in your state to determine if using a VPN is legal.

  • Question: Where do I get a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
  • Answer: VPNs are available in several formats, from browser extensions to separate software. The separate software products allow you to easily turn the VPN on/off and specify your location. While these products are not free, there are ways to save. Before purchasing, it is worth checking one of the “Cash Back for Purchase” websites. VPNs routinely offer massive discounts in the form of cash back. It is not unusual to see 50%, 75%, or even 100% cash back. Generally, you will need to wait 90 days before you can get the cash back. Also, VPNs typically have auto-renewal turned on. If you purchase, make a note of when the renewal period is up or manually turn off auto-renewal to avoid future charges.

  • Question: What can I do if I want to help?
  • Answer: Consider signing up for a monthly membership at one of our partner sites by clicking on a banner ad on one of our websites. Even if you just join for a single month, the revenue will help keep our sites online.

  • Question: Should I complain to my state legislators if I think this law is insane?
  • Answer: Msybe. While it is theoretically beneficial to communicate your beliefs to your elected officials, be certain to weigh the pros and cons. In this instance, it is unlikely that any Conservatively-controlled state legislature will revenuse their actions. As such, speaking up will likely have limited affect. Additionally, speaking out against these laws might potentially cause problems for you in the future...especially in states where messages to elected officials are public records. Please be cautious in your online actions.
